Maybe you got lost at the beach, the countryside or a shopping mall. . .
How did you feel when you got lost? I’m sure you wished to be found so you could go back home with your family, right?
Jesus told a story about a little lamb that got lost in a field. The lamb’s owner was a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. Every day he took them out to the fields so they could eat and to the river so they could drink water. And at ni8*‹, he took them to an enclosure called a sheepfold to protect them for being attacked by wolves or ther wild animals.
One night, when the shepherd was counting his sheep, since he knew each one by name, he realized one was missing. He immediately left the ninety-nine safe in the sheepfold and went off to look for the little lamb that had gotten lost. After looking for a long time and walking in the field . . . he found it! The shepherd was as happy as your mom and dad are when they find you after having lost you.
That story or parable Jesus told shows us how much He loves us. You’re like that little lamb. Sometimes you misbehave and drift from Jesus’s side. But as a good shepherd, Jesus will always go out to look for you wherever you are, because He never forgets any of his sheeps.
He even goes out to seek sheep that are still not part of his flock, but belong to the enemy, Satan’s flock.
Jesus wants to save the whole world, but everyone has to choose if they want to belong to His flock or not.
What will you choose? Draw a picture of the parable of the lost sheep in your Prayer Journal.
