“The way of a fool 1s right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise» (Proverbs 12:15).
ARE THERE people in your life who give you a good advice, help you make the best decisions, tutor and support you? They are mentors who are concerned for your well-being; they are people who, because of their experience and knowledge, are qualified to show you the right way and help you avoid stumbling and falling unnecessarily. These people are gifts from heaven. You can go to them with the assurance they will pass on to you the wisdom they have acquired through their personal experience.
Under normal circumstances, our parents are no doubt the best people to guide us in our lives. They want us to be competent and develop our potential to the utmost, until we become successful. This is why they instill values and principles in us so we can function well. Appreciate them for who they are and thank God for their influence. Sadly, some people don’t have this blessing.
The values your parents have taught you are not personality blockers, as some people in self-defense claim to be; they also don’t intend to attack you. On the contrary; these values allow you to walk through life with a safe step and freedom, because they let you know how far you can go without destroying yourself. Far from being bad, limits give security.
God speaks to you today through His Word and tells you that if you make it a “lamp unto your feet,» your path will be clear and He’ll lead you to make the right decisions. It’s up to you to choose today between life and death. But if as you are reading these lines you realize you have been walking on the wrong path and this is keeping you far from God, you shouldn’t think all is lost. God offers you a new starting point. In Christ there is forgiveness, hope and restoration. Only He can repair what’s broken in your life; only He can restore what you have lost; because He loves you with unconditional love.
God is the only one who can forgive and forget. Your role is to acknowledge your mistakes, retrace the steps you have taken in the wrong direction and accept His leading and guidance. He is our supreme mentor.
Now is your time. Enjoy your youth without regrets. Build your future by making Christ your foundation and seeking guidance from people who love you.
