Or do you get tired quickly and never finish? It’s very important to be perseverant to reach and achieve your goals.
That means enduring, or being persistent.
Do you know the story of Nehemiah?
Nehemiah was a young man who trusted Jesus in everything he did. Even though he was a Jew, he lived in Babylon, because the people of Israel had been taken captive there.
Nehemiah worked for King Artaxerxes of Persia. The king liked him a lot because he did his job very well.
One day, the king noticed he was sad and asked him why.
Then Nehemiah told him he had found out that the city of Jerusalem had no walls or gates, and anybody could go in and attack the Jews living there.
Then the king gave Nehemiah permission to go and rebuild the wall in Jerusalem.
He also gave him letters giving him permission so the neighboring people would let him go through with building materials and not bother them; he even gave him wood to build the city gates.
Nehemiah was no longer sad; instead, he was very excited. He quickly got everything ready and left for Jerusalem.
As soon as he got there, he shared his excitement about rebuilding the wall with the other people living there and together they began putting up that large wall with God’s help.
Although some of the people around Jerusalem tried to discourage Nehemiah and the others, they kept on working and trusting God. And after fifty-two days of working non-stop, they were successful!
