Do you like to listen to the news on the radio or TV?
The media communicates hundreds of news every day. But most of it is bad news: natural disasters, dishonest politicians, traffic accidents . . .
The bad news in our planet started when Adam and Eve sinned and death came into this world.
However, from the beginning, God had a plan of salvation for Adam and Eve. God’s plan of salvation was to send His Son Jesus to die for us cross and that way give us the chance to live forever.
God gave the first good news to Adam and Eve when they were sad because they had disobeyed. He promised them a Savior who would put end to evil and death.
That good news is what the Bible calls the gospel.
The word comes from the Creek language and means «good announcement» or “good news.”
Throughout the Bible the good news was written and preached by many prophets such as ‘, Isaiah Jeremiah … even the apostle John, who wrote the last book of the Bible.
Jesus summarized the gospel with this verse, which you probably know: «For God loved the world so much that he gave his Son. God gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life” (John 3:16, ICB).
No doubt, that is the best news. But many people still don’t know who Jesus is or that thanks to Him we can be saved and live forever.
Who are you going to give the gospel to today?
In your Prayer Journal, ask Jesus to help you give the “good news” to someone today. You can write the verse from John 3:16 in pieces of paper and hand them out to some people you meet in the street.
