If you notice, the stars, the planets, and the moons are all round. Why is that?
Scientists say that as celestial bodies like the sun and earth rotate through space, planets shrink because of the force of gravity and therefore take the shape of a sphere.
For you to understand it better, imagine a spinning skater who brings their arms toward their body more and more to turn more, because the same happens with the gases that make up the sun and end up forming a sphere.
The sun is a star made up of gases like hydrogen and helium, and it’s so hot, at such high temperatures, that it’s impossible to get close to it.
Scientists have tried to study the sun by looking at it from the SOHO Probe between the earth and the sun. But it’s impossible to get close to the sun due to the heat and gases it gives off.
The Bible says that God made a greater light to illuminate the day and a lesser light to illuminate the night, but He did not name them sun or moon. These names were given by the Romans, not God.
The important thing is that thanks to this giant star life can exist on Earth. Without the sun there would be no plants and without plants there would be no animals or people.
God created the sun so that people, animals, and plants could live on this planet. When you get up, enjoy the gift that God gives you every day and feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
Draw the two great lights that God created in your Prayer Journal and thank Him by writing a prayer.
