“If it is possible; as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:18).
HOSTILE, nagging, argumentative, imposing and quarrelsome women a are found everywhere and at every level of society. They are not only the result of a certain temperament, and much less the product of the environment in which they grew up or in which they are now living, whoever uses that as an argument is only making excuses. It’s actually a lack of internal peace that makes a woman declare war on everything and everyone, beginning with herself. That war is fed by anxiety, anger that became rage, excessive worry, low self-esteem, unhappiness and ungratefulness.
The first quarrel in a marriage was in the Garden of Eden, between Adam and Eve. The first murder also happened between members of the first family. Lack of peace on this earth is the immediate result of human beings distancing themselves from God. Values were altered from having drifted from the Lord; selfishness took control of our impulses; seeking the common good became less important and was replaced by selfishness.
God calls us to be peacemakers; to do this, we need to work first on out internal peace. A good way to start is accepting our life story; wherever we are anger, grudges and resentment we have been dragging around for years, make us uncomfortable, inadequate and angry. God does not change our past life, but He can give us a new vision of it.
We are all in some way, the result of a society that’s constantly in a hurry, without even knowing why. The undeniable result is irritability, stress, bad mood and despair. If you want internal peace, get it from God. He has promised, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the World gives do I give to you” (John 19:27).
Calm your mind; when you do it, the same thing will happen with your body, your emotions, your actions and your daily life. Change your thoughts. Life isn’t an executioner beating us constantly; life is a gift from God you need to enjoy, and that enjoyment begins with yourself. Nobody can take that away from you without your permission. When that internal process shows external evidences, your children’s, husband, friends and family will see them.
Be a peacemaking woman. Begin today. God your helper and He sustains you.
