Do you know how the height of a mountain is calculated?
It is calculated by measuring the he distance between its peak (the highest part of a mountain) and the surface of the sea.
The highest mountains in the world are in the Himalayan mountain range, whose name means “dwelling of snow.” This mountain range belongs to several countries such as 8hutan, Nepal, China, and India. It is approximately 1,550 miles in length and about 250 miles wide. Within the Himalayas are the highest mountains in the world: Everest, which is 29,03d feet high, and K2, with a height of 28,251 feet.
In 1865, the highest mountain in the world received the name of Everest in honor of British surveyor George Everest, who spent his life measuring territories like India. Thanks to him we know where the Himalayas are located and how much they measure.
The first climber who managed to reach the top of Everest was called Edmund Hillary, and he did so in 1953. Since then, thousands of people have climbed it, but many more have failed.
Do you remember the story of Noah’s ark* During the Flood it rained for forty days and forty nights. The water did not stop rising and little by little everything was submerged; even the highest mountains disappeared under the water and some were swept away. After the Flood, new mountains emerged (probably the Himalayan mountain range and others), and near their summits we can find fossils of animals, fish, snails and other mollusks of the sea . . .
This is clear evidence that what we read in the biblical account of the universal Flood really did happen.
Draw a mountain in your Prayer journal and write your prayer inside the drawing.
