«But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully» (2 Corinthians 9:6).
HE HOLDS THE PLOW with a steady hand. Beads of sweat run through his brow and down his cheeks. Even though the sun mercilessly beats down on his skin and thirst claws at his throat, there is no time to rest. His legs shake and dust coming from the earth seeps in through every pore in his skin. However, he doesn’t stop. He goes on and on. his only incentive is the harvest that will come after winter has passed, when the seed will have become fruit, crowning his effort, filling him with glory and reminding him that the effort was worthwhile.
Dear friend, your life is the soil in which you plant the seed; and you know what? You can make it a dry ground or fertile soil. It’s now in your youth that you should stand behind the plow, sowing the good seed in your life’s emerging furrow. You will need to make an effort, to stay on without quitting when the heat of trials rages and troubles make your hand tremble. You will have to persevere without resting, setting aside trivial matters and moving forward to reach your dreams with earnest and determination. Laziness disables, takes you out of the furrow; if you give in to it, the seed will be lost and, in the winter of your life, you will succumb as a result of your own carelessness.
Your youth is the guarantee of your success; you have time, opportunities, physical strength and intellectual abilities that secures a good harvest. And some day, sitting under the tree of your life, you will watch time go by and be able to bid it farewell with the satisfaction of having done your duty.
While still young, Jesus finished His mission on this planet and did so while being tormented by suffering and disdain from those who should have worshiped Him. He reaffirmed His decision by depending on His Father, doing His job with personal conviction, not looking for other people’s approval. Now He sits victorious at Gods right hand.
Today is your day, a day to sow. Get up and go for your goals. Through the eyes of faith, glimpse the fruits of your sowing. Not only will you have a place of honor here on Earth, but you will also have one on that glorious day, when Christ will wipe away the sweat from your brow and will crown you as a daughter of God who comes home with her hands full of sheaves, filled with precious gram.
