Underline the correct answer
c. Jesus’s followers
Is there salt in your house?
I’m sure that if you look for some in the kitchen, you’ll find it. Salt Is an essential ingredient for cooking.
Do you know where salt comes from* The main source of salt is sea water.
Did you know every quart of sea water has an ounce of salt? There are some very shallow sort of pools of seawater that are built near the ocean. Those pools are called «salt pits.»
Salt pits are flooded by ocean water that ends up evaporating with heat from the sun and by the wind.
So the salt sits at the bottom and when the water evaporates and disappears, salt accumulates and is left to dry so you and I can have salt at home.
Salt was very useful in Bible times. It was used for many things, not only to cook.
Among other things, it was used to pay salaries.
If you look it up, the word «salt» comes from the word «salary.» It was also used to preserve food, because there were no refrigerators.
Why do you think Jesus compared His followers with salt? Because salt is very useful to stay healthy, and food without salt has no taste.
If you’re a follower of Jesus, you should stay strong and healthy, the way salt preserves food.
And you have to give flavor to those around you, that is, help others and be an example that benefits those around you.
In your Prayer Journal write what it means to be the «salt of the earth.»
