«Please conduct a séance for me, and bring up for me the one I shall name to you» (1 Samuel 28:8).
I do not know if you live in a country where it is a common practice to celebrate Halloween. Perhaps that day will have another meaning if you are in a place where it is really celebrated.
I will never forget how shocked I was to see, in a superstore, the list of children who had disappeared on November 1. They had gone out the night before to get candy and had found out that the battle of good and evil is not really a game and there are no tricks that can get revenge.
Unfortunately, we live in a society that has completely distorted the vision of the enemy. The more things are exaggerated, the more they are disguised and filled with stereotypes, the more freely and easily they are managed. Games of the occult are taken lightly, just like movies and home experiments. Unknowingly and unintentionally, many give Satan free entry into their lives, and he often remains a tenant forever.
We also live in a society that leads to cultural influences of tribes or ancestors with customs that are deeply rooted and contrary to Christianity. We can be bombarded on every side, but that is no reason or excuse to fall into their traps.
We have a clear guide in the Bible on how to deal with Satan and his angels. It may be that, like many people, you are afraid to talk about this topic and prefer not to touch on it. It may be that, like many other people, you laugh or take it lightly.
However, the struggle is real and will not stop until Jesus returns. In fact, it will get worse and worse. We cannot ignore the tricks of the enemy or the power of our Friend. Let us not give so much importance to the enemy; let us not celebrate him with seemingly innocent acts. Let us get to know our Friend more who does not wear a disguise or ask us to wear one.
I recommend that you carefully read the full story behind today’s Bible text (along with chapter 67 Of Patriarchs and Prophets), and Ellen White’s The Truth about Angels. These books can help us in a special way to know much more about what we are up against and who is and will be by our side until the end.
