Do you have a teacher who teaches you many things?
Jesus liked listening to the temple teachers. When His parents tool him to Jerusalem for the first time, He was impressed when He saw the temple.
But what He Liked best was Sitting next to other youth at the temple schools of the rabbis, where a rabbi or teacher taught the Scriptures.
Jesus spent many hours asking a teacher of the law many questions—so many questions, that other teachers came to see why his class hadn’t ended yet.
All the teachers were amazed at how well Jesus knew the Holy Scriptures.
There wasn’t a single Bible story Jesus didn’t know.
The temple teachers realized Jesus was a very intelligent and special boy.
He also knew a lot about God because Mary, His mother, had been His teacher and had taught Him the Old Testament Scriptures very well.
When Jesus became an adult, He taught about everything He had learned from the Scriptures.
He did it so well and explained everything in such a simple way that everyone understood Him and they even forgot to eat because they wanted to keep on listening to Him. Nobody got tired of listening to Him.
That’s why they called Him «rabbi,» which in Hebrew means «teacher.» by doing that they showed their respect toward Him, because they considered Him a teacher from the temple in Jerusalem.
Would you like to be a rabbi? Read the Bible every day like Jesus did and you’ll be able to teach all its stories to others.
In your Prayer journal, draw a picture of your favorite teacher and write a short note of gratitude for everything he or she teaches you every day.
