I’m sure that your parents, your grandparents and your teachers have told you many stories, Who does not like to hear a story well told?
Over time, many people have created stories or tales to teach others something important. But Jesus was the best at telling stories. His stories were shol. He talked about things or situations that everyone knew about. He told them so well that all the people came to listen to Him.
Sometimes Jesus had to get on a boat or a mountain so that everyone could hear Him.
Do you know what those kinds of stories are called? They are parables.
Surely you have heard many of Jesus’s parables, but you may not have known that they were called by that nâme or why.
In the Gospels, Jesus told approximately forty-six parables.
Why did Jesus speak to people in parables? That’s what the disciples asked Him, and He replied that those who love God from the heart can understand them better than those who don’t love Him. All the parables that Jesus told have a lesson. Jesus wanted to teach us about the love of God and what the kingdom of heaven is like.
Can you mention any of the parables that Jesus told? Read Matthew 18:10—14 in the Bible and draw a picture of that parable in your Prayer Journal.
