“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies,
Kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another,
And forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another,
Even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do”
(Colossians 3. 12, 13)-
When man and woman proceeded from God’s mind, transformed into two perfect human beings, they possessed glimpses of the divine nature. Both of them were His very beloved children,
which made them equal in the Creator’s eyes. That Concept of equality was also to permeate the relationship between them; they were to coexist based on mutual acceptance since they were children of God. Treating each other this way would guarantee man and woman’s happiness. However, within that equality there were physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual aspects that stamped two different and unique seals on men and women.
It could be said that men and women are equal because both are children of God created in His likeness, but each one has his or her own distinctive nature that makes them different from each other. Understanding this and accepting it makes it possible for both ladies and gentlemen to improve their environment with freedom, originality and creativity.
It was not by impulse that God created us different from each other and also asked us to live in harmony. He did it to gram us well-being, happiness and prosperity within a relationship in which we complement each other. This means that, although men and women’s roles and responsibilities are different, they promote the common good; if they are put to good use and balanced, they provide harmony and integration. The Bible confirms this concept when it expresses through the apostle Paul this statement: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek. there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:26—29).
Complementarity makes communion, coexistence, harmony, and agreement possible even when there are differences of opinion.
When Christ reigns in the heart, that’s when we can live in perfect peace and harmony with each other.
That’s why it should be a priority to always seek Christ through the reading of the Holy Scriptures and prayer every day.
These are the tools that All give us a balanced vision of interpersonal relationships between men and women.
