nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present
nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord»
(Romans 8:38, 39).
SHE HAD BEEN abused by a relative during her childhood. When she was ten years old, her mother went to work in another country and left her in the care of her grandmother. When she reached adolescence, her anger broke against the world. Tired of her rebellion, her grandmother put her in the custody of a rehabilitation center for young girls with behavior problems. When she turned eighteen, she was free on the streets. That’s when she believed she could finally live like she wanted. She did a few jobs from time to time to get food and a place to sleep.
The freedom she enjoyed soon turned into a jail.
She wanted the loving arm of a friend, the company of her mother who was absent, and to fill her hearts emptiness with true love without pretense. In those days, someone gave her a book that spoke about the challenge of wildflowers that should grow in all soils, even in the most inhospitable ones. She identified herself in those pages and began to blossom in the area where she had been planted. The pain from her past was seen as an enlightening experience. She stopped looking for love and began giving it to the weak, the sad, the suffering, and the helpless. She no longer wanted licentiousness and began to be free in Christ.
Dear friend. Gods plan for you was, is, and will be fulfilled in the way you allow it to be. Only you can distort the plans God has for you; no one else can. Take responsibility for your actions; don’t blame others for the unpleasant things in your life and remember, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword»?
Make this wonderful promise yours. Today, you are still on your way; you have not reached the heavenly home yet.
But God is your traveling Companion, and when the stones in the path cause you to fall, He will lift you up and will help you to continue until you arrive home.
