Did you know that you don’t measure the same in the morning as you do at night?
When you get out of bed, you’re a third of an inch (almost a centimeter) than before bedtime. Do you know why? It’s because of the force gravity, the weight or pull of your body to the ground. Your body experiences force during the waking hours of each day, affecting the distance between the disks of your spine (backbone). By the end of the day, it makes some height.
However, we get the height back when we sleep, because when resting, the spine recovers from the pressure that gravity exerts throughout the day.
So after a whole day of being pulled to the center of the Earth, we shrink; and we recover our height while we sleep. You may have heard it said «children grow while they sleep,» and it is true, but older people do too.
You can test it yourself. Measure yourself tonight when you go to bed and tomorrow when you get up, and you will see when you are taller.
The Bible speaks of a child like you who «grew and became strong.» But, above all, He read the Scriptures every day to be full of wisdom and pleased his heavenly Father.
Do you know who it is? You can find the answer in today’s verse.
In your Prayer Journal, ask Jesus to help you grow in height and wisdom to pleased your heavenly Father… and don’t forget to measure yourself today!
