How long can you wait before sharing important news with your family, friends, or a teacher?
There are announcements we can’t wait to share because they’re exciting, like the arrival of a baby to the family or an important person to your city, or getting a good grade in school. . Good news are important and we always like to share them with others.
When Jesus was resurrected, before returning to heaven, He gave His disciples a very important mission: to proclaim the gospel, which is the good news that He had come to save us.
Why did He ask them to do that? It was so they could make more disciples of Jesus throughout the world.
That mission is what we call the Great Commission. And the disciples were very obedient and made Jesus known in a lot of the world. Because of them, you and I are Christians and we know what Jesus did, what He’s doing, and what He will do for us in the future.
Maybe you’re wondering why it’s important to tell others about Jesus. That’s because there are still people who don’t know Jesus and don’t know what He did for them. Some people have already heard of Jesus, but they don’t know that He died to forgive their sins and then rose again, that He went up to heaven, that He’s preparing a wonderful place for us to live with Him, and that He will come back for us so that we can live with Him for eternity.
Are you brave enough to tell others about Jesus? Ask Jesus to help you carry out that Great Commission. In your Prayer Journal, write in what ways you can do that.
