AFTER A LONG DAY of traveling and the rain keeping me from going to the hotel restaurant, I decided to call for room service and ordered something simple for dinner. Moments later, I heard someone knocking on the door to deliver my meal. As I opened it, I was very surprised to see in front of me a small figure with rain-soaked hair, holding on one shoulder and with one hand, a tray full of food and drinks. She was carrying not only my order, but also other hotel guests’ meals. I invited her in and expressed my admiration for her ability to hold such a big loaded tray, moreover, in the rain. At that very moment, the most impressive part of our conversation began.
She lived with her grandmother, which she supported, providing for all her needs, as well as taking care of her own livelihood. Letting out a great sigh, she said to me, «It won’t be long before I can quit this job and dedicate myself entirely to my career. » Even more astonishingly, I asked her what her career was and she replied with a look full of satisfaction: «I am a lawyer and in a semester I will be finishing my master’s degree in criminal law, and I will open my own office.» When she left, I looked out the window and saw her walking, with great determination, to finish her workday.
Against the wind and tide, that young woman was on her way toward her goals. How much need there is for women imbued by that spirit of dedication, sacrifice, tenacity, and perseverance, who are not intimidated by the words «I can’t!» We need women who trust in God; who recognize and develop their faculties, talents, and gifts; who are able to take a step forward when adversity seems like a wall impossible to break through
The road to success is in the hands of young enterprising people who pursue their dreams that are always in harmony with the values espoused by the Gospel.
The successful mindset is generated with the following benchmarks:
Trust in God, who tells you, «I am with you always.
Put the resources you have in your «menu» of dreams.
Take small steps forward to find your way.
Visualize your future with your fulfilled dream.
Use your time wisely.
Persist, persist, and persist; obstacles will always appear.
Faced with obstacles, move forward and don’t stop praying.
