Do you know what the word «divorce» means?
According to the dictionary, it means «a separation between things that were once connected or associated.»
In biblical times, some men were so stubborn and had such a hard heart that if they no longer loved their wives, they rejected them.
Those women ended up abandoned, because back then, women did not have jobs and depended on the protection of a man to have food and a home to sleep in. That is why Moses established a «letter of divorce» that the man had to write and hand over to the woman. That «letter of divorce» allowed the woman to get married again, so she could have food, a house, and a new family.
But that was not God‘s plan. His plan when He created man and woman was that they would remain together their whole lives. Jesus is sad that married people separate and that families suffer.
Many times, the problems between a man and a woman are so big that they don’t know how to solve them and decide to get a divorce.
