Have you ever made a deal with your parents or a friend?
Perhaps you have agreed to clean the backyard in exchange for some money, or to wash the dishes in exchange for a bicycle. Maybe you’ve agreed to help a friend with homework in exchange for him teaching you how to play basketball . .
Usually, deals are made between two parties, right? When we make a deal, we reach an agreement or covenant that both sides agree to keep.
In the Bible we can find that Cod made two covenants with His people. The first appears in the Old Testament. It is the covenant that God made with Abraham and then confirmed on Mount Sinai when the people of Israel promised to obey Cod in exchange for being His special people and keeping His promises.
But the people of Israel disobeyed Cod repeatedly and broke the covenant.
Then God looked for another group of people who would commit to obeying His commandments and be faithful to Him. That is why in the New Testament Cod made a new covenant with the followers of Jesus, that is, with the Christian church.
Therefore, there is an old covenant that Cod made with Israel, but which they broke by disobeying; and there is a new covenant with all those who believe in Jesus.
Do you want to make a covenant with God today? You just have to obey and believe in Jesus, and in return you will receive eternal life.
What a privilege to be able to make a deal with the Cod of the universe!
Write in your Prayer Journal a covenant with Cod to obey Him every day of your life.
