Go outdoors or open a window. Look up at the sky for a few seconds. Breathe. Can you see the air? Do you know what it is made of? Even if you can’t see it, air is very important.
All living things need air to breathe. On the second day of Creation, before creating all living beings, God said: «Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth» (Genesis 1:6).
Part of the waters remained below the space and another part was above. He called that space «heaven,» or «sky.» So, water in the form of clouds rose to form a layer or vault in the sky. God was glad to have created the sky, the clouds, and the air.
That layer of air that protects us and gives us life is called «atmosphere.»
God created a layer of air, made up of oxygen and nitrogen in just the right amount, so that it could surround the Earth and we could breathe.
That layer of atmosphere weighs a lot, thousands of pounds, but we don’t feel that weight, right?
That air could crush us against the ground, but the Creator made everything with an intelligent plan from the beginning.
That is why the air doesn’t crush us.
God made it so the pressure exerted by that weight would be distributed uniformly over our body and the air within us would counteract that pressure outwardly.
Don’t you think that’s amazing? Nothing exists by chance.
The Creator did everything out of love for us.
Draw a cloud in your Prayer Journal and thank Jesus for the air.
