«For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘l have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth’ » (Acts 13:47).
FRESSIA WAS READING the Bible when she felt the conviction that she should share the gospel with someone that day. She prayed to the Lord, «Put the person who needs to receive You in his or her life in my path today.» With that prayer in her heart, she went on her way. However, the day passed by without the opportunity coming across her path. At night, she called a taxi to go back home, but the taxi driver took a long time to arrive. Waiting while the icy wind beat her and fatigue overtook her, Fressia got into a bad mood and lost the desire to talk to anyone. When the taxi driver arrived, she did not give him the address of her home, but of a point of reference, which was a church, since she lived across from it. Then the taxi driver asked her, «Are you a Christian?’
«Yes, I’m Adventist,» replied Fressia.
«I can’t believe it!» he exclaimed. «I was an Adventist, but I left the church twenty years ago. It’s curious that I have never had an Adventist in this tad.» ‘»This is a sign that God is looking for you,» Fressia declared.
He thought for a moment and then rejected the idea, since at that time of his life, not only was he a drug trafficker, but also a user. His friends were criminals, and his world was dark. Nevertheless, Fressia invited him to attend her church on Sabbath. He arrived just as the sermon was beginning. «Don’t insist on helping me anymore,» he said to Fressia.»I am very bad, and there is no way
out for me.
«I have a mission, she said to him, «and I am not going to abandon it.»
The taxi driver went to church sporadically for a time, until the day they
announced an evangelistic campaign and Fressia invited him. He accepted the call of God on Friday despite the intense struggle within him. He gave up drugs for five months, but relapsed. When he wanted to leave the church, Fressia prayed for him and continued to encourage him. Today he is a man converted and transformed by the power of God, a collaborator in his church, and completely removed from the world of drugs.
God has put us in this world as lights to attract people to Him. Do not forget that today.
