«Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil» (Proverbs 4:26, 27).
INTEGRITY
Spiritualism is clothed in different ways. They’re all extremely attractive to men and women, children, young people and adults, uneducated people and scholars, rich and poor, believers or non-believers. Its ability to become camouflaged is amazing. But what kinds of people does occultism attract? Here are some guidelines.
Occultism attracts those who are spiritually empty, for whom God is not a reality in their lives. The emptier your life is in a spiritual sense, the more likely you’ll someday approach the dark world of spiritualism. If spiritual things aren’t very important to you today, you must be very careful, because it makes you an easy target for those kinds of tendencies.
People are more open to the occult when they don’t trust the Word of God or when they are satisfied with partial obedience. Dissatisfaction in your spiritual life opens the door to all kinds of strange practices, including spiritualism. Many people who don’t study the Scriptures and only follow God’s will halfway—and therefore don’t have a meaningful faith—are likely to fall into the clutches of spiritualism. I’ve heard several young people say that the church doesn’t offer them enough spirituality. They need something else. Without thinking, they’re placing themselves in very dangerous territory. Satan is also listening to them, and he’ll soon prepare a bait just their size.
Only seeing a dark, foreboding horizon everywhere (1 Samuel 28:5). Overwhelmed by desperation, King Saul was filled with anxiety in the face of imminent defeat by the Philistines. So he desperately sought spiritual advice. And since, according to him, God didn’t speak to him, he went in search of a medium. Inquiring through a medium didn’t help much, on the contrary, it filled him with terrible anguish. His plummeting mood passed on to the Hebrew army, which was bitterly defeated by its enemies. People who are constantly complaining and are stiflingly pessimistic are more likely to seek spiritualistic options as a way out of their problems when feeling desperate. Somehow, Satan induces you to see the negative side of life, and then he introduces himself as the great solution to your problems.
Think very carefully what road you will follow and turn from evil. Renew your relationship with God and experience the power of His Word.
