«As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God» ( l Peter 4: 10).
Our skills determine the type of service we can do with the most A skill is the capacity that a person has which singles him or her out from the rest. It can be seen as a «gift» given by God that can be developed, depending on what it is used for. Each of us has received at least one latent skill that can be used for the good of others.
Bezalel and Aholiab were intelligent and knowledgeable in science and art. They had the skill of drawing designs and working with gold, silver, bronze, wood, and precious stones. Additionally, they could teach their craft to others. During the time of Moses, they used their talents to help build the Tabernacle (Exod. 35:3035). Heman, Asaph, and Ethan had the gift of music and served God by singing. During the time of David and Solomon, with their talent, they inspired the people to worship (1 Chron. 6:31-48). The disciples of Jesus received the gift of healing people, resurrecting the dead, and casting out demons. They served God by bringing relief from human suffering (Matt. 10:8). The apostle Paul who’s most outstanding gif was preaching with God’s power, increased the number of members of the early church in different areas around the Mediterranean Sea. Gaius, a member of the church of Ephesus, provided material resources to God’s church, by hosting and supporting the missionaries who traveled from one church to another (3 John). A humble seamstress called Dorcas used her skills to serve God, b making clothes for the poor, giving them donations and taking care of their needs Acts 9:36-43).
Clearly, we can serve God in different ways. Have you discovered which gift you have been blessed with? Maybe it isn’t the gif of preaching or performing miracles, but you definitely can serve others one way or another. Remember that ‘there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all» (1 Cor. 12: 4-7).
May you help others today by using the gif God has
