Enzo Anselmo Ferrari was born in M6dena (Italy) on February 18, 1898. When he was ten, his Dad, along with his brother Dino, took him to see a car race. Both kids were fascinated by the cars, the drivers and the sound of motors. The two brothers built a rustic race car to play with at home. Their father noticed that his sons’ excitement for cars increased, so when the time came, he supported their decision to attend a school of mechanical engineering.
But the First World War would mark that family’s life. Dino had to leave for the battle front and died from typhoid fever. The father died in 1916. Now Enzo was left alone with his dream of working with cars. So when he finished the military service, after a year, he found work in a small car factory. Ferrari got a used Alfa Romeo to compete in some races and caught the attention of its executives, who invited him to work for their racing team. After some time as a race car driver for Alfa Romeo, Ferrari became the one in charge of competitive activities at the company. On February 1, 1929, he inaugurated the Ferrari Formula One Team, which would in time become one of the most prestigious car brands in the world.
Nothing was easy for Enzo Ferrari. Throughout his life he had to overcome various tragedies, from his loved ones’ death, such as his brother, his father and his own son, to the death of some of his dear drivers. He also had to live in times of great political instability, such as the two world wars that devastated his country. But Ferrari had enough character to pull through and carry on with his project Due to his hard work, the Ferrari Formula One Team has been considered the best Formula One team in automotive history.
