«We ought to obey God rather than men»(Acts 5:29).
SHARE 2,000 COLONES with your little brother,» were the mother’s instructions. It was the birthday of a young girl I knew and her mom was giving her some money as a gift to buy whatever she wanted. However, the girl, expecting that her little brother would never know anything about that incident, decided to keep it all for herself. «Single female seeks.» said the ad that suddenly appeared on the computer screen. That man, certainly a Christian and married, was alone at home, reading his email. Would he click on the link of the semi-nude woman, or would he have the moral fortitude to turn off the device and go somewhere else until the temptation left? After all, no one would ever find out.

Yes, I recognize that it is extremely difficult to be upright these days for two reasons: because of our own sinful human nature (this has not changed since sin entered the world), and also because of the times in which we live. Immorality and corruption abound everywhere, not only in the great spheres of power, but also on the street. Temptations do not have to be sought out any longer; they come calling in the intimacy of our homes. How difficult it is to say «no» when we think no one is going to find out.

Philippians 1:6 comforts me: «And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns» (NLT). In the meantime, while God is doing that good work within us, «whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him» (Colossians 3:17).
