JUST BEFORE WE BEGAN the missionary journey of which I spoke to you yesterday, we had to go through a difficult test. On the date we were supposed to leave for the lands of the Cabécares, the December downpours began to fall on the area. There was barely one week left to get ourselves to the location and it was indispensable for us to have good weather; otherwise, it would be impossible in practice to preach the gospel.
The solution was to pray, asking God to help us by taking away that little inconvenience from our path. Thus, every morning that whole week, the 18 participating missionaries on that occasion sent text messages to remind one another that we had to pray, without fail, at 5:00 in the morning for the Lord to provide a beautiful sun on the Kabekwa area, as the indigenous people call their territory in their own language.
The day of our departure was getting closer, but the prayers had changed: now they were of gratitude by faith, since we were sure that the Kabekwa sun would shine in all its splendor and the fierce rains would take a break so the work of God could continue in that region. And that is what happened. From our arrival at the lower Pacuare river, the Kabek was sun shone brightly and with the majesty that the Creator gave it. The sun continued to shine until the last minute we were in the reserve. It was with us during the whole event. Just as we ended, the rains understood that they had to come again to continue the natural course of the season. It was simply marvelous
Many Kabekwa suns continue coming out daily over the people of God to reveal the powerful signs of the Almighty. Perhaps the obstacle in your path is of a completely different nature, but the solution continues to be the same: there is power in prayer. «This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us» (1 John 5:14). For that reason, «continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving» (Colossians 4:2). Remember that «the Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth» (Psalm 145:18)
you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them» (Mark 11:24). I am telling you this as someone who has experienced it in person
«Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know»(Jeremiah 33:3).
