We’ve all heard the Bible texts describing what the world will be like when Jesus comes: Wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, pestilence, people’s hearts failing them for tear, people running to and for on the earth, natural affections turning cold, anger, hate, lust.
Sound familiar?
Even the people alive right after Jesus lived on this earth believed the world was ripe for His quick return. When He didn’t show up, Peter wrote, «Above all, you misunderstand that in the last days scoffers will come.. . . They will say, ‘Where is this “coming» he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation’ » (2 Peter 3:3, 4).
Ever feel that way? Where is He? Why hasn’t He come back?
No one knows the day or hour when Jesus will return the second time. God says so in the Bible. But we can be ready today, or tomorrow, or the next day. We can begin to prepare for our future life in heaven with Jesus, so when He does return, we can say, «Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us» (Isaiah 25:9, KJV).
When it will happen is not important. If it were, God would have told us. Thai It will happen should fill our hearts with gladness and set our lips to singing, He’s coming—He’s coming. You can count on it!
