Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God. ROMANS 15:7, NKJV
Over the years I have spent a lot of time traveling to do presentations around the world to people of all ages. Since I also speak Spanish, I was once invited to speak at a Pathfinder camporee in Venezuela. Getting there was a challenge because I first had to fly to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, then I had to stay in a hotel overnight. The next morning, I was to take a flight to one of the smaller cities, where I was picked up by the organizers. From there we drove another few hours into the country to the location where the camporee was taking place. I thought I was being taken to one of the most remote wildernesses in Venezuela, but when I got there, I discovered that almost ten thousand Pathfinders, TLTs, and Master Guides had assembled there!
The organizers put up a giant stage and a giant screen in a field where the meetings would take place. The location was made up of orchards, fields, and hills, and many of the clubs had to squeeze in and find a place to set tip their camp for their clubs. During the week I spent there, I got to spend a lot of time at the camps of different clubs. Each mealtime I would be taken to a different club, where they would share their food and we could share time talking to each other. Everyone I encountered was incredibly generous, kind, and friendly. At every moment I felt as though I were with family. My own family wasn’t able to come with me, so naturally I was missing them, but GOD blessed me with a church that helped me feel less lonely. The kind people there made a special effort to accept me and make me feel at home.
When you realize how JESUS accepts you just as you are, it is an example liar us to see other people as JESUS did and accept them with kindness and love.
