Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. PSALM 125:1, NIV
Recently I traveled through Italy with my wife and two sons. We had just II finished visiting Rome, and we were now driving toward Venice. During my trip planning back home, I had decided that it would be worth taking a little detour during this part of our drive to visit the tiny country of San Marino—which is bordered on all sides by Italy, between Rome and Venice, The drive to Venice would take several hours, and I calculated that a quick detour to visit San Marino would add less than one extra hour of driving, That seemed like a good idea considering we could be able to claim one more country to our list of countries we’d visited. As we left Rome, I programmed the GPS to go to Venice, and then I added a «via-point» to San Marino along the way. All I had to do now was follow the GPS directions to San Marino and eventually Venice. The hours went by as we drove through the Italian countryside, enjoying the views, the different towns and terrain. Every step of the way I obeyed the GPS. Eventually I saw a sign that said we were only about an hour away from Venice. That’s when it suddenly hit me, «What about San Marino?» I started pressing buttons on the GPS to see what had happened. I finally announced to my family, «Uh, family, I have a strangle announcement to make. About an hour ago we drove through San Marino!» For some reason I never realized we had arrived at our via-point. We had driven right through San Marino without realizing it!
There are lots of things that happen in our lives we don’t know about. That is why I find so much peace in just trusting GOD with my life. HE understands everything that is happening. Sometimes I pray to God asking for something, but because He knows the big picture, I don’t worry when I don’t get my way. I try to just continue trusting that GOD is the ultimate GPS!
