«Sing to Him, sing psalms to HIM Talk of all His wondrous works!» 1 CHRONIC» LS 16:9, NKJV
When I was a student in France, I joined the school choir that practiced in the evenings several times a week. After a couple of months of practicing, the director determined that we were ready to perform in public. He first arranged for us to sing on campus during Sabbath worship service. Soon after, he arranged for us to travel to a church in Switzerland to sing on Sabbath morning. Later we did a short tour, singing at several churches around Paris. Eventually we learned that in April we would have our largest tour—to Italy. The director worked to book concerts for us all through Italy for about a week. Our concerts took place in the evening, which meant during the day we would travel from one city to the next and do a little sightseeing. Most of the time we sang at smaller churches and schools, but during one of our stops we were going to sing in a city called Milan in northern Italy. As part of our daytime sightseeing, we went to the Milan Cathedral—an incredible work of architecture. The ceiling is super tall, and there are incredible details carved into the stone and wood all around. Cathedrals also have great acoustics—making music sound extra nice. As we toured through the cathedral, some-one suddenly suggested that we sing one of our songs. Right there in the middle of the cathedral, about twenty-five of us started to sing one of our worship pieces. It sounded incredible.
As we sang, a small crowd formed around us as we elevated our voices to heaven in song. At the end of our last note, everyone stopped and held their breath to hear how long the echo would carry. It went on for several seconds as we stood there in silence.
Singing praises to GOD is one of the most popular ways of worshiping and praising Him. All heaven rejoices when we sing praises to GOD!
