The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. PROVERBS 13:4, NKJV
My favorite mountain range is the Alps in Europe. I find them amazingly beautiful because they are so rocky and pointy. During the year I studied in France, I never got tired of visiting the Alps. In the fall of that school year I asked the school administrators if the school had a ski club. They said there wasn’t, but if I wanted to organize one, they would help and support our plans. Immediately I went to work talking to the other students to see how many people were interested. I also went to work researching which of the ski places was best to visit and close enough to do as a Sunday day trip, and I figured out how to transport all the people there and back, purchase lift tickets, and pay for rentals and meals.
I was so excited about the thought of skiing in the Alps that I was very happy to do all the work to organize these details. When the first day came, we were ready—a bunch of people signed up, I had a bus, I had costs figured out for the group, and I had found a place to ski. We left early that Sunday morning and spent the entire day skiing and exploring the mountain. I had never skied at such a large ski area before. I knew right away that I would never get to ski every trail or part of the mountain because it was so big. It was a perfect day, and I will never forget the incredible view I had from every spot on the mountain. No matter which direction I looked, it looked like an endless range of beautiful, pointy mountains. My favorite!
It took a lot of work to organize this outing, and I was happy many people were able to benefit from it, but if I had chosen to be lazy, it’s likely nothing would have happened. GOD loves when we are diligent, hardworking, and organized. We are challenged to be this way in everything we do.
