“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” JOHN 14:2,3, NKJV
Yesterday I share with you our trek down the Romantic Road in Germany. At the very southern point of Germany, before entering Austria, is the last town on the romantic road-Fussen. Near Fussen, a beautiful castle is nestled in the Barvarian mountains. The Neuschwanstein Castle is in the rugged foothills of the mountains. It took us a awhile, but we hiked up to the castle. This castle was built in the 1800s, making it one of the newest castles in Germany. It is also well known for being the castle that inspired the design of Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland, with the soaring towers, high-peaked roofs, and fairy-tale look. Inside, there’s a magnificent ballroom, impressive bedrooms, and long halls filled with art and tapestries and huge chandeliers. The castle was built by King Ludwig , but he died before it was finished. Six months later it became a museum, which means no one has ever really lived in it except for King Ludwig, who slept there eleven times while it was under construction.
After seeing the castle, we discovered that there was a trail that continued even higher into the mountains behind the castle. We were told to follow the path to a narrow bridge over a deep ravine, so up to the mountain we trekked.
Sure enough, a long bridge spanned a ravine, high above the castle. From the center of the bridge we enjoyed a fantastic view of the castle down below, complete with a couple of lakes and mountains in the background. It was picture perfect!
This place reminded me of the place God is building for us in heaven. The main difference-the most beautiful castles and places here on earth can’t compare to the place in heaven GOD is preparing for us!
