“And everyone who has left houses or brother or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.” MATTHEW 19:29, NKJV
After our adventure climbing one of the small pyramids, we remounted our camels and continued toward the larger pyramids around the corner. When we arrived, we discovered there were tunnels we could take to the center of the pyramid. First we had to climb the outside of the pyramid up to the entrance. As you entered, the passageway went down fill for a small distance, then uphill for a small distance. The whole time, we had to be either squatting or crawling on our hands and knees. Finally, we reached a large room called the Grand Gallery that also continued to lead us uphill. At the top of this large room we finally reached the King’s Chamber, where the pharaoh had been laid to rest. At this point we were at the very center of the pyramid.
As we explored these rooms, we discovered they were mostly empty, but in the King’s Chamber there was one thing-giant sarcophagus, or big box carved out of stone, where the pharaoh’s mummified body was originally placed. The whole time experience was cool and creepy all at the same time, but we were curious about all the contents originally in these rooms. Our guide told us that many of them could be seen in the Egyptian museum. The next day we went to the museum and were amazed at all the ancient Egyptian artifacts collected there. We were extra thrilled when we entered the part of the museum that held many of the contents from the tomb of one of the most famous pharaohs, king Tut, including his beautiful burial mask.
These pharaohs were very wealthy with earthly treasures, but GOD is offering you so much more. Not only does HE offer us to protection while we are on this world but He also offers us eternal life with HIM in heaven!
