And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” GENESIS 1:22, NKJV
Almost every trip I take has a goal or mission. Sometimes I’m traveling because I was invited to speak somewhere, other times I travel to film different parts of the world. Occasionally I’m traveling because I need to attend a special meeting or event. At times my family gets to come with me, which makes the trip so much better. Once, my wife and I took a trip to do nothing. We went to a Mexican island called Cozumel, just off the Yucatan Peninsula. For one of the first times ever, we booked a hotel right on the beach and stayed there for a week. It was strangers at first, since I was not used to “resting vacation.”
Having the opportunity to travel is a blessing even if it’s to work, so I would never complain, but this time in Cozumel stood out as one of the only resting vacations we’ve ever taken. I took a book and a music players and nothing else. Every morning after breakfast we went down to the waterfront and sat in a chair till lunch. After lunch we’d go back and sit there again till supper. Our first day there, I discovered a beautiful reef only a few feet away in the water, and each day I went snorkeling. Every day I looked forward to that peaceful time in the water surrounded by colorful fish and diverse coral creatures. During those seven days I estimate that I spent twenty hours in the water exploring the reef and all of GOD’s amazing creations.
The ocean teems with living things. GOD took the time to create the creatures of the sea, so it would make sense to study and appreciate them whenever you get a chance. We’re usually surrounded by nature, so today I challenge you to think of GOD every time you see something in nature. Go out and enjoy and appreciate all of it!
