But those delight is in the law of the Lord, And who meditates on his law day and night. Psalm 1:2, NIV
When I was in high school I once took a camping trip with a couple of buddies to hike a small portion of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania.
The Appalachian Trail stretches from Maine to Georgia along the rides of many mountain ranges for about two thousand two hundred miles. We planned to hike a few miles and have fun camping and exploring the area. I didn’t have much gear, but I was able to assemble a few basic things I would need for the excursion such as a sleeping bag, some food, and some water. The weather forecast looked clear, so we didn’t even take a tent.
Soon we were on our way, climbing up the mountain to the ridge, enjoying nature and some amazing views. After a few miles of hiking we started to look for a good place to make camp. We came across a little lake and decided this was the perfect place to stop for the night. Since we didn’t have a tent, we just had to find a reasonably smooth area of ground where we could lay out our sleeping bags right under the stars. Once we made camp, we took a quick swim in the lake and then ate some food. It started to get dark, and we decided to gather some wood to make a small fire. As darkness settled in, we sat around the fire and talked and share stories.
Later, when we lay back in our sleeping bags, we were amazed by the star show in the sky that night. Because of our location, the sky was extremely dark and the starts looked particularly bright night as we starter into the sky till sleepiness overtook us.
Before falling asleep, I spent some quiet time talking to God. Sometimes it’s in the quiet places that you can hear God the loudest. Find time each day to spend time alone with God.
