I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. PSALM 32:8, ESV
After visiting the summit of the volcano Osorno, we decided to explore the areas around the base of the volcano. As we drove around the base of the mountain we discovered a zip-line adventure park. In those days, there were no zip-line parks in North America; I had only seen them in Central and South American Countries. We found out they were open and that there would be no problem taking the boys on the zip-line adventure tour even though they were only four and two years old. The woman working there took us around the corner to a room filled with ropes and cables and harnesses and other gear. She proceeded to outfit each one of us with a harness, including a small harnesses and helmets, but they seemed to enjoy adventure.
Our guide taught us a few basic rules to follow, and the truck drove us hundreds of feet up a bumpy mountain road and dropped us off with our guides. There was a tree there that had a long cable attached to it on one end, and a couple hundred feet downhill the other end of the cable was attached to another tree. Our harnesses were tied into a long wire, and we would remain connected for the next couple of hours as we came down twelve different cable lines from treetop to treetop down the side of that volcano. One of the professional guides went “tandem” with boys.
I’m glad our guide taught us about this adventure before we started. It made things a lot easier. Although the guides were only qualified to teach us how to safely zip line, I’m glad that God exists in all other locations. He has promised to help us know the best and safest way to go about life. That’s a promise from God, and it’s our verse for today. Claim that promise today!
