In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.
GENESIS 1:1, NIV
When I was a kid we visited Washington, DC, a couple of times. I loved to visit the Smithsonian museums-my favorite was the Air and Space museum, which is filled with displays and exhibits of our history of flight and space travel. Another favorite was the Natural history Museum, filled with exhibits of many unusual and interesting animals, areas filled with beautiful minerals, places to learn about other cultures, and a whole area on dinosaurs. As a little kid, I did not spend too much time reading the little signs at each exhibit. I just wanted to run and see everything there was to see in the museum.
Almost forty years later I went back with my own kids to see all those cool museums I remembered as a kid. This time, I was much more interested in reading all the displays and learning about many wonderful things.
Everything was great until we went into the Natural history Museum. As I made my way through the museum, I was shocked at the constant referral to evolution as the factual explanation of our past. Evolution is an idea that tries to explain how this world and universe cam to be without a Creator. In other words, it’s the idea that millions of complex creatures and life forms developed by themselves over billions of years.
Teaching that nothing created everything is clearly not scientific. The definition of science is knowledge gained from testing and observation, yet never in history has anyone proved through tests of observation that nothing created everything. Science actually shows us that the natural world around us is filled with incredibly complex design.
The Bible offers the best explanation: in the beginning the Creator created the heavens and the earth and everything in them.
