“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than yet?’ MATTHEW 6:26, NIV
As a kid I went to the Grand Canyon several times but never to the North Rim of the Canyon, because it was an extra two hundred miles to get there. When I grew up and had my own family, I decide to finally see the canyon from the North Rim. One of the advantages of driving around to the North Rim was that we were also close to another park, one that I had never been to-Zion National Park in southwest Utah.
Since we arrive in the summer, we had to use the shuttles to get around the park. The most prominent feature we noticed right away was Zion Canyon. As the bus proceeded into the park, the road led us into an amazing canyon about fifteen miles long and up to half a mile deep. The canyon walls have a reddish-tan color to them, and it seemed as though at each turn there was something new and exciting to see. As we walked around, we notice a lot of people with binoculars. We wondered if there was something in particular they were trying to see. The shuttle stopped often, and each time we got and saw what was there. We were amazed at the diversity of life zones there. I always thought it was only desert, but there were also woodlands, a river and land meet. As we explored, we finally figured out why so many people had binoculars with them. It turns out there were almost three hundred species of birds in the park!
There is a passage in the Bible about birds that I really like. It’s our verse today. It tells us how valuable you are to God. Ig God is concerned about birds, imagine how much He’s concerned for you-so much so that He was even willing to sacrifice His Son to save you!
