Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 PETER 5:8. NIV
The first time I went to an NFL football game was an experience that left me telling myself I would never go to a game again. Let me explain. I had just graduated from college, and I was working at an office. One day, the owner of the company I worked for was given four tickets to Chicago Bears home game in later November, and I was invited to use one of those tickets. I was exited since it would be my first time attending an NFL game. We drove to Chicago, but right away, there were two things working against us: first, it was very cold; and second, it was raining. This is a terrible combination, because Soldier Field is not an indoor stadium. Even though I had brought a rain poncho, being in the cold, wet rain for three hours was not going to be fun.
The next thing I discovered was that all four of our seats were in different parts of the stadium, so we’d each have to sit alone. Wonderful, now I’ll be alone in the cold, wet rain for three hours! Since I was the newest employee, I got the last pick of the seats- in the highest seats of the stadium. Last of all, the game was terrible. Because of the rain and cold, and because of the rivalry between the Bears and the Vikings, the final score was a whopping 0-3. The only exciting thing to happen the entire game was a Viking field goal, which lost the game for the home team.
What was the lesson learned? Things do not always seem as they appear. A ticket to NFL game sounded good, but it turned out to be terrible. Satan is trying to get the world to think that drugs and alcohol are good but things are not as they appear. These things are terrible and destructive, and they will destroy your body, your family, your friendships, your money, and your life.
