The Soul old a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul old the diligent shall be made rich. PROVERBS 13:4, NKJV
The summer I spent in Jordan was by far of the most fascinating experiences of my life. During my time there, we had a very simple routine each day. We usually started the day at 5:00 A.M with an early breakfast and worship. Before the sunrise, we boarded a bus and drove thirty minutes into the Jordanian desert to the location of our dig site, arriving as the sun rose. Since we were at the dig site by the time the sun was rising, we were able to dig before the hottest part of the day. Most of the time our digging in the desert was over by noon, at which we would go back to camp and have lunch.
After lunch, we were given time to clean up and change out of our dusty clothes, Next, we would clean and sort out our discoveries we had dug up earlier, while one of the archeologists would help us understand each of the findings. Later we’d explore nearby ruins of the marketplace in town. Sometimes I’d just find a neat spot and sketch an interesting view in my journal.
Our days were long and busy but very rewarding and memorable.
The Bible warns about lazy people who don’t do anything with their life. Are you being lazy and wasting it? Do you spend to much time watching TV or playing videos games?
Life is a gift given to us by God. He wants you to fill your life with new experiences, friendships, and discoveries, but that’s probably not going to happen if you’re lazy. Go out today and every day and live life to the fullest!
