Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. GALATIANS 6:2, NIV

A few years ago, my brother-in-law decided to open an office for his business. He found a building and rented it. The next step was for him to buy the necessary furniture and equipment so that it could function as a business. Before we could move any furniture in, there was some work that needed to be done such as removing wallpaper, repairing drywall, and doing lots of painting and cleaning. He decided to get a group together to work on the office, and I was happy to go help. As you can imagine, the work was quickly finished.
Not too far from where I live, there are a lot of Amish communities. The Amish are Christian believers who live a simple life and usually live out on country farm far from any city. Within their culture there is something fascinating called a “barn raising.” Each Amish family usually has a big barn for their hay or animals. If a fire destroys someone’s barn, the members of the community bring materials and supplies to build this family a new barn.
Sometimes hundreds of men will all come together at once and quickly build this family a new barn. I think this is a wonderful Christian attitude, because many hardships into hope. Because we live in a sinful world, life comes with many hardships and burdens. But wouldn’t life be so much simpler if we worked together to help each other get through the difficult times?
We should always be aware of the people around us and take action to help them they’re struggling with a hardship. There are many ways to help people every single day in our communities. God tells us in our verse today that it’s important for us to work together to help each other. The more we work together, the lighter the load will be for everyone!
