The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for eve and ever. Amen 2 TIMOTHY 4:18, NIV
Several years ago my wife and I decided to take a trip to Africa. But traveling to Africa is not something you take lightly, and we decided to consult our doctor to see how we needed to prepare. One month before traveling, we ended up returning to his office to get a few vaccinations we needed. For the next month we also had to take a pill every day, as well as each day during our time there, and also for one month after returning. All this was part an effort to reduce the risk of getting malaria and other infections from a mosquito bite or contaminated water. When it came to our health, we didn’t want to take any chances, so we faithfully took our pills in preparation for the trip. But that’s not all we did.
Before leaving the United States, I bought a mosquito net that was meant to cover our entire bed. I had never used one before, so I wasn’t sure how to put it up. That first night I pulled out the mosquito net and started to try to figure out how I was going to set it up in our hotel room. There was no obvious way to hang it, but I had come prepared with zip lock bag full of cord and pushpins. Over the next forty-five minutes I managed to somehow hang the mosquito net with an amazing system of string all over the room in order to hold the netting in place. It was a lot of work to put up, but let me tell you, I slept a lot better each night knowing the net was there.
There are many dangers in the world that can hurt our body, but there are also many dangers out here that will hurt our spiritual life. Remember, your body is temporary, but God wants to recreate you to have eternal life! That’s why it is more important to protect your spiritual life.
